Ogun State residents couldn't contain their joy as Governor Dapo Abiodun made the list of the top 10 best performing governors in Nigeria. Who wouldn’t be excited? Even I would roll out the red carpet if my state governor made such a prestigious list. However, not everyone is celebrating. Some people have raised eyebrows and are asking whether he truly deserves this recognition. Was this ranking fair, or was it influenced by other factors? Let’s take a closer look at his achievements in Ogun State and decide for ourselves.

Governor Dapo Abiodun has initiated and completed several projects that have had a direct impact on the lives of Ogun State residents. His administration has focused extensively on infrastructure development, including the construction and rehabilitation of key roads such as the Ijebu-Ode-Epe Expressway, Atan-Lusada-Agbara Road, Sagamu Interchange, and several rural roads to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion. These road projects have facilitated trade, reduced travel time, and attracted more businesses to Ogun State. In the education sector, over 100 schools have been renovated under the Ogun State Revitalization Program. His administration also introduced the Ogun State Education Revamp Agenda, which included providing free instructional materials to students, distributing furniture to schools, and improving teachers' welfare through salary increments and professional training programs.

Healthcare has also seen significant improvements. The governor commissioned the 250-bed State Hospital in Abeokuta and rehabilitated several General Hospitals across the state, including those in Ilaro, Ijebu-Ode, and Sagamu. His administration also launched the Ogun Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring affordable healthcare access for residents, particularly low-income earners. To enhance economic growth, Dapo Abiodun has attracted multi-billion naira investments to Ogun State, including the establishment of an industrial hub in Sagamu and expanding the state's agro-processing sector. The Ogun State Investment Promotion Agency was also created to encourage both local and foreign investors, boosting job opportunities for young people. The agricultural sector has not been left out, as his government launched the Anchor Borrowers' Program, which provided farmers with soft loans, fertilizers, and mechanized farming equipment. The state also initiated the Ogun State Broiler Project, where over 54,000 birds were distributed to local farmers to increase poultry production and economic sustainability.

These contributions are evident, and many residents have felt the impact of these developments in their daily lives. But does this mean he rightfully earned his spot among the top 10 best performing governors? Critics argue that while Dapo Abiodun has made progress, his administration still faces challenges, such as issues with workers’ salaries and delayed projects. Some believe that political influence may have played a role in his ranking rather than just his performance. So, with all that has been said, do you still think this was rigged in his favor?
